Intake LPN Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Intake LPN to join our team at New York Cancer & Blood Specialists. As an Intake LPN, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Float between NYCBS locations as needed to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Follow all New York Cancer and Blood Specialists policies and procedures to maintain a high level of patient satisfaction.
  • Update and maintain electronic patient records, transitioning hard copy records to digital format as needed.
  • Record patient information, including vital signs, weight, and changes in medical history prior to each appointment.
  • Clean and prepare examination rooms prior to patient appointments to ensure a clean and safe environment.
  • Work in the front office, handling tasks such as answering phone calls and greeting patients as they enter the facility.
  • Assist in maintaining medical inventory and placing orders for new materials as needed.
  • Measure and record vital signs, and perform routine screening tests as required.
  • Record patient interview, history, and chief complaint to ensure accurate patient information.
  • Provide patient education on medications, disease management, home treatments, and special diets.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and perform routine screening tests as required.
  • Assist physicians with exams and perform Phlebotomy and collection of other lab specimens as needed.
  • Perform basic lab tests and EKGs as required.
  • Administer and document medication under a physician's order, following the five medication rights to reduce the potential for medical error.
Requirements:
  • Current NYS LPN license required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Previous experience in a lead role or demonstrated potential to act in a lead capacity.
  • Must demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Proficiency in OncoEMR.
  • Ability to travel to any of the NYCBS locations.
