Job Summary

The Material Handler will play a vital role in maintaining the production and distribution of products by pulling orders from inventory, delivering production materials and supplies, and staging finished products. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the orderly operation of stock and/or materials storage area.
  • Skilled in inventory control, management of goods, process improvement, and data handling.
  • Responsible for the movement, storage, protection, and control of materials throughout the manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, consumption, and disposal process.
  • Maintain inventory by identifying, labeling, and keeping materials and supplies in stock, recording location of inventory, and reporting shortages.
  • Locate materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on production orders.
  • Prepare finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, and packing.
  • Keep a well-maintained and updated account of stock and inventory.
  • Convey purchasing requirements and keep data on the availability of products in short supply supporting the Kanban program and the flow of resources in production processes through cards used to indicate when to supply materials based on the demand and consumption of the customer.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to locate missing packages, fix incorrect deliveries, and replace damaged products.
  • Perform daily cycle counts as required.
  • Work as directed by Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Previous stock or inventory experience a plus.
  • Previous experience operating a forklift or pallet jack a plus.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and analyze information.
  • Adept at handling multiple complex tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with prioritizing and meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Process improvement mindset.
  • Knowledge of inventory control.
  • Data entry skills.
  • Excellent ability to communicate orally and in writing in English.
  • Well-developed literacy, numeracy, and computer skills with a technical aptitude.
  • Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements.

Computer and Software Requirements

  • Experience with Epicor a plus.
  • Microsoft: Office 365; SharePoint; Teams; Visio; and OneNote preferred.
  • Ability to operate media equipment such as tablets, smartphones, and other electronic equipment.
  • Ability to work with general office equipment.
  • Ability to work with and understand databases a must and the ability to learn technical skills.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Shall have essential physical skills; be able to run, squat, stoop/bend, kneel, climb stairs, be able to lift at least 50 pounds (or 1⁄4 own body weight).
  • Shall have adequate vision, reading, writing, and documentation skills, and hearing to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Must have enough endurance to perform tasks over long periods of time.
  • Will be engaged in speaking, sitting, walking, driving, listening, and in communicating both orally and in writing while performing his or her duties.
  • Must be able to listen and respond to questions and instructions.
