Position Overview
The Senior Cost Accountant plays a crucial role in our Finance department, focusing on standard costing, budgeting, cost variance analysis, and driving business process enhancements. This position offers a dynamic work environment with significant opportunities for leadership in refining the standard costing system and fostering professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive analysis of manufacturing costs and generate regular reports that compare standard costs to actual expenses.
- Oversee, maintain, and improve the cost accounting framework.
- Gather and analyze data to assess costs associated with business activities, including raw materials, labor, and other related expenses.
- Lead physical inventory counts and present findings to the executive team.
- Assist in the month-end closing process by preparing journal entries for various product lines and standard costs.
- Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to ensure accurate costing and support the development of new products.
- Produce various ad hoc reports as requested by local or executive management.
- Enhance standard cost reporting and variance analysis processes.
Qualifications (Required)
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing with a focus on cost accounting.
- Proven ability to identify and implement process improvements, demonstrating initiative and effective communication across multiple functions.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, along with the ability to build relationships.
- Proficiency in Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office applications.
Qualifications (Preferred)
- Familiarity with JD Edwards ERP system.
