Job Description

Position Overview

The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for executing preventative upkeep and repair tasks on company infrastructure, mechanical systems, and utility networks within the operational areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate relevant machinery to reduce the risk of injury in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness of stalls, walkways, and other operational areas to uphold facility appearance and sanitation standards.
  • Conduct safety and maintenance inspections to ensure equipment and personnel safety.
  • Manage inventory of essential supplies.
  • Report maintenance or repair needs to the supervising authority.
  • Handle live animals and their waste with utmost care.
  • Utilize small equipment such as mowers, blowers, weed eaters, power washers, and various hand tools to complete maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all assigned work.
  • Stay informed of the weekly work schedule and any adjustments based on operational requirements.
  • Adhere to departmental SOPs and policies regarding uniforms, communication, and job responsibilities.
  • Prioritize safety in all tasks performed.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill each essential duty effectively. The following qualifications are necessary:

  • High School diploma and/or 1-2 years of relevant experience.
  • A valid Driver's License is required.
  • Physical capability to perform demanding labor consistently.
  • Ability to work independently with strong time management skills.
  • Capability to interpret various forms of instructions including written, oral, and diagrammatic.
  • A high-energy individual with a positive demeanor and strong communication skills in a collaborative environment.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • The physical demands and environmental conditions described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for individuals with disabilities.
  • Regularly required to stand and/or walk for extended periods; occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 150 lbs. and push, pull, or drag up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Regular exposure to risks associated with movement between buildings and other areas as needed. Exposure to fumes or airborne particles, including second-hand environmental smoke. Noise levels in the work environment may vary from light to moderate.

Licenses and Certifications

Possession of a Pari-Mutuel License is required, along with a valid Florida Driver's License.
