Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Polysomnographic Technologist to join our team at Yale New Haven Health. As a Polysomnographic Technologist, you will play a critical role in conducting sleep studies and providing high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct Sleep Studies: Prepare patients for sleep studies, conduct polysomnograms (PSG), CPAP titrations, and home sleep testing, and collect vital signs and other pertinent information.
  • Patient Care: Attend to patients quickly and professionally, and provide explanations to patients if busy with another patient.
  • Procedures: Follow procedural protocols, such as Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), parasomnia studies, PAP and oxygen titration, to ensure collection of appropriate data.
  • HSAT: Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to perform portable monitoring equipment preparation and data download.
  • CPAP Titration: Assist in properly fitting patients with a variety of nasal and full-face CPAP interfaces.
Requirements
  • Education: High School graduate or equivalent required. Completion of an AASM-approved program upon hire.
  • Experience: Minimum of three (3) years in healthcare-related experience preferred.
  • Licensure: Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), Registered Sleep Technologist (RST), or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) OR holds a Certified Polysomnographic Technician (CPSGT) credential, EEG Certification (Electroneurodiagnostic Tech) or equivalent.
  • Special Skills: Previous education in allied health or life science is helpful in assimilating normal and abnormal physiology, as well as working with sophisticated equipment used during the polysomnogram.
Working Conditions

The Polysomnographic Technologist will work in a fast-paced sleep center environment, requiring attention to detail and ability to work independently. The position requires standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds. The employee may be exposed to chemical vapors and infectious agents, including bloodborne pathogens.
