Job Overview

The role of a Pourer at Waukesha Foundry involves critical tasks related to the pouring process in a foundry environment.

Pouring Responsibilities:

  • Ensure correct weight and clamp positioning based on mold specifications prior to pouring.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of sprue and risers, ensuring they are free from debris.
  • Interpret master documents for specific requirements and instructions.
  • Utilize proper pouring techniques, maintaining an even stream and appropriate height for risers.
  • Implement effective gas removal methods during the pouring process.
  • Accurately place hot topping and heat tags post-pour.
  • Remove clamps and weights once the material has cooled.

Ladle Maintenance:

  • Safely position ladles on the preheater and ignite as necessary.
  • Perform knockouts, replacements, or repairs on ladle linings, including safety liners.
  • Fabricate ceramic pots for hand shanks.

General Duties:

  • Operate hoists and forklifts safely.
  • Comprehend and utilize master sheets effectively.
  • Read and interpret measuring instruments.
  • Collaborate safely within a team setting.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work area.
  • Execute additional tasks as directed by supervisors.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

Skills: Proficiency in basic arithmetic functions, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, along with the ability to read and understand shop documentation.

Abilities: Capability to utilize direct reading and fixed gauges, work with percentages and decimals, and obtain forklift certification.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in elevated temperature conditions.

Work Environment: Typical foundry atmosphere.
