This full-time position requires five 8-hour days, Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 4:30pm.

Job Summary

The Trauma Nurse Coordinator will assume direct patient care responsibilities when required to ensure adequate care levels. As a resource person, they will assist unit staff in identifying patient care needs or problems, as well as their professional development needs, and help them select suitable problem-solving approaches.

The ideal candidate will promote diversity, awareness, and sensitivity among staff, identify and participate in resolving patient and staff safety concerns, and participate in developing the philosophy and goals of the department. They will also communicate and interpret these goals to unit staff, participate in orientation activities, and serve as a change agent.

In addition, the Trauma Nurse Coordinator will participate in the multidisciplinary team in the coordination and delivery of patient care, promoting compliance with regulatory agencies' standards and guidelines. They will assist in identifying trauma patients appropriate for the registry and promote unity within the shift, between shifts on the unit, and between units within the Patient Care Area.

The successful candidate will have 3+ years of progressive experience in nursing in the Trauma specialty, a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, and current RN licensure to practice nursing in the District of Columbia. Certification in TNCC provider and TCRN is preferred, while Certified Basic Life Support Instructor certification is required.
