Job OverviewZTEX Construction is seeking a highly skilled Senior Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team. As a key member of our operations department, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of our fleet vehicles, heavy and light trucks, and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, adjust, repair, and service a variety of vehicles, apparatus, and allied equipment.
- Troubleshoot hydraulic and electrical problems.
- Perform diagnostic evaluation of equipment by means of computer software.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance work such as changing oils, lubrications, and inspections.
- Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts.
- Keep equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures.
- Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems.
- Operate other equipment such as a hoist jack, overhead crane, and tools to fabricate, service, and repair vehicles.
- Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems.
- Comply with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
- Maintain vehicle appearance by cleaning and washing.
- Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
- Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
- Perform physical inventories of service truck parts, tools, and supplies.
- Contain costs by using warranty, evaluating service and parts options.
- Maintain established safety standards; ensures a clean and organized work environment.
- Instruct line personnel in matters pertaining to vehicle maintenance; assists in identifying and delivering solutions that prepare line personnel and the fleet for a state of readiness.
- Perform data entry duties related to repair activities such as task/time accounting, parts use and equipment status, documents mechanical issue diagnosis and repairs.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Automotive Technology, Diesel Mechanics, or related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
- Certifications such as ASE Master Technician, Caterpillar Certified Technician, etc.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with computer-aided diagnostic tools and software.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
Salary: $65,000 - $90,000 per year based on experience.
