I&E Technical Lead – Job Overview
Our client is a prominent player in the gas pipeline sector in New Mexico, currently experiencing significant growth with several major capital initiatives in progress. They are seeking an I&E Technical Lead to oversee operations in the eastern region of the state.

In this role, you will serve as the Electrical & Instrumentation lead across multiple projects. Expertise in gas pipeline operations and leadership is essential, along with experience in Electrical, Instrumentation, and Control systems for effective project execution and construction throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the maintenance, operation, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of instrumentation and electrical systems, including VFDs, switchgear, transformers, and various instrumentation.
  • Identify and procure equipment based on application requirements, including power supply, flow, temperature, and pressure specifications.
  • Conduct loop checks and calibration of field instrumentation.
  • Diagnose and repair circuits and electrical equipment.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment such as pumps, compressors, and auxiliary systems.
  • Interpret and analyze P&ID drawings, electrical schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Collaborate effectively with Technicians, Operations, Engineers, and other stakeholders to facilitate maintenance, repair, and installation of new equipment.
  • Adhere to safety and environmental protocols in line with regulatory and company standards.
  • Participate in safety training, maintain necessary certifications, and exemplify high safety standards during regulatory inspections.
  • Contribute to the development of Operations & Maintenance Procedures, project scopes, and work plans.

Position Requirements:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in pipeline instrumentation and electrical power systems, instrument control, automation, and electrical maintenance/project commissioning within the oil & gas sector.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of pipeline operations and experience with medium voltage equipment.
  • Previous experience as an I&E Lead technician.
  • Familiarity with National Electric Codes.
  • Technical Degree or Associate's Degree in Instrumentation, Electronic Communications, or Industrial Electronics, or equivalent experience.
  • Understanding of Pipeline & Terminal business processes and equipment, including mainline motors, pipeline flow measurement, and tank level measurement.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic, electronic, and analytical instrumentation for measuring and controlling fluid properties.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, including Piping & Instrument Diagrams and wiring schematics.
