Position Summary:

The Senior Accounting Specialist plays a vital role in achieving the department's objectives by applying sound accounting principles to various transactions, performing account reconciliations and analyses, maintaining accurate records, and supporting the operational needs of the business unit.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure timely and precise processing of financial transactions.
  • Prepare and uphold adequate documentation for all transactions and journal entries.
  • Engage in monthly general ledger closing processes and prepare necessary journal entries.
  • Conduct reconciliations of general ledger accounts at month-end.
  • Participate in the annual physical inventory or cycle counting initiatives.
  • Assist in the annual audit conducted by external accounting firms.
  • Calculate and file sales and use taxes accurately.
  • Focus on continuous improvement efforts with an emphasis on minimizing waste.
  • Undertake special projects as required.
Qualifications:

Essential Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong analytical capabilities and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (including pivot tables and lookup functions).

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience (internships may be considered).
  • Experience in a manufacturing setting is advantageous.
