JOB SUMMARYOVERVIEW STATEMENT:
The Nurse Midwife delivers comprehensive and personalized care to patients across various stages, including antepartum, postpartum, and routine family planning and gynecological services.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:PATIENT CARE MANAGEMENT
Provide and maintain midwifery services that address the diverse needs of women throughout their life stages.
- Deliver care to all patients seeking midwifery services while considering community health requirements.
- Assist in formulating guidelines for midwifery practices.
- Enforce policies and procedures that regulate patient care delivery.
- Collaborate with nurses, certified nurse practitioners, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to evaluate and meet patient healthcare needs.
- Participate in committees focused on clinical improvement initiatives and engage in quality assurance programs.
- Oversee and provide care for postpartum patients, including those recovering from surgical procedures.
- Consult with physicians as necessary and co-manage specific cases as per midwifery protocols.
- Provide care and triage for all obstetrical patients, both urgent and non-urgent, consulting with OB/Gyn services as required.
- Facilitate patient education during each visit.
- Conduct routine gynecological care, including pap smears, IUD insertions, and Nexplanon placements.
- Exhibit and maintain clinical proficiency.
- Identify personal learning needs and objectives, and devise a plan to achieve them.
- Maintain essential clinical skills through self-directed practice.
- Act as a resource for areas requiring expertise.
- Keep current licensure and certifications necessary for practice.
- Graduate from an Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME) accredited program.
- Successful completion of the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) certifying examination.
- Active enrollment in the AMCB Certification Maintenance Program.
- Licensed as a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Preferred one year of experience as a Nurse Midwife.
- Strong interpersonal communication, teamwork, research, and organizational skills required.
- Master's degree required.
- Bi-lingual candidates preferred.
