Job SummaryAs a Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and service. You will assist pharmacists in the practice of pharmacy, including tasks such as filling prescriptions, processing patient information, and maintaining accurate records. You will also be responsible for providing excellent customer service, answering questions, and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in the practice of pharmacy, including tasks such as filling prescriptions, processing patient information, and maintaining accurate records.
- Provide excellent customer service, answering questions, and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Process prescriptions, including retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions.
- Assist in scheduling and maintaining work flow, including coordinating with pharmacists and other staff members.
- Report prescription errors to pharmacists on duty and adhere to Company policies and procedures in relation to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
- Strictly adhere to the Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.
- Register all related sales on assigned cash register, collect and handle cash as required, and take customers to OTC aisle when possible to assist in locating products.
- Handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians.
- Process manual claims for third party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner, and perform other clerical duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
- Assist and support Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking and storing shipment of pharmaceuticals.
- May assist pharmacist in administering clinical services, including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients and other clinical services as required.
- Assist Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other health care providers.
- Assist with exterior and interior maintenance by ensuring the Pharmacy Department is stocked with adequate supplies, clean, neat and orderly in condition and appearance.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, and maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
Requirements
- Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
- Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens.
- Prefer good math skills to fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring and weighing medications.
- Prefer good computer skills.
- Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
- Prefer PTCB certification.
