Teaching Residency Program
We are seeking highly motivated and dedicated individuals to join our Teaching Residency Program, a two-year program designed to prepare aspiring educators for a successful teaching career. As a Resident, you will work alongside experienced teachers, receive comprehensive training, and take on increasing teaching responsibilities.
Program Overview
The Teaching Residency Program is a partnership between Uncommon Schools and Relay Graduate School of Education. The program is designed for recent college graduates and career changers who are committed to teaching in New York state schools for at least three years after the first year of the residency.
Responsibilities
- Tutor small groups and individual students
- Assist experienced teachers
- Co-teach
- Teach certain elective and enrichment courses
- Substitute teach
- Complete Relay GSE coursework and take graduate school classes
- Take all necessary New York state tests towards teacher certification

Qualifications
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree conferred by June, 2020
- Minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.75
- A letter of recommendation
- US Citizen or permanent resident status
Additional Information
Residents will receive a stipend in each of the third and fourth years to cover the costs of their Master's degree. Salary for this role is $45,000.
