Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Charge Nurse to join our team at Glasgow State Nursing Facility (GSNF). As a Charge Nurse, you will be responsible for managing and supervising programs for the Nursing Services, performing professional nursing duties, and evaluating nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise programs for the Nursing Services
  • Perform professional nursing duties, including training, performance evaluation, and other duties as required
  • Evaluate nursing staff and ensure they attend in-service training and pod meetings
  • Assist in training staff on assigned shifts and perform clinical nursing care
  • Complete Quality Assurance as assigned and stay current with long-term care regulations
  • Delegate duties to appropriate staff and ensure the quality of care through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation
  • Complete notifications to the Doctor of Medicine (MD) as necessary for resident care and ensure care plans are updated with completed orders
  • Supervise personnel and unit management, staff assignments, administer medication, and supervise Licensed Practical Nurses, Medication aides, and Nurse Aides
  • Monitor for side effects, account for drugs and related paraphernalia, and provide resident care
  • Document resident care and condition in medical records and complete resident assessments and documents in medical records
  • Monitor lab results and complete lab draws
  • Serve on committees and provide information on updates for policies and procedures to meet regulatory compliance

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or one year of experience in a related field
  • Licensed in Kentucky as a registered nurse or possess a valid work permit issued by the Kentucky Board of Nursing
  • Ability to work with patients, clients, or employees who may have been exposed to infectious diseases
