Summary of Job Duties:

The RN for the Behavioral Emergency Response Team will ensure the highest quality of care for patients, family members, and visitors exhibiting disruptive behaviors within the UAMS main campus through the management and oversight of the Behavioral Emergency Response team.


Qualifications:

Required Qualifications: Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program Valid RN licensure in the state of Arkansas. Over 3 years of nursing experience. Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage conflict in various situations. Excellent customer service skills. Advanced communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Experience with Medical Record Systems. Experience in Clinical Documentation. Knowledgeable in behavioral de-escalation principles and guidelines. Teaching Experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Mental health background with a minimum of two years of practice with inpatient psychiatric populations. Current experience in acute care or psychiatric populations in an academic medical center. Familiarity with Epic Medical Record System.

Responsibilities :

Behavioral Response Team

Carry the behavioral response team pager during shifts. Serve as the clinical lead on all acute and non-acute behavioral events. Possess expert knowledge and serve as the point of contact for de-escalation strategies. Understand resources and policies to support the healthcare team and patients related to behavioral issues. Assess and evaluate restraint patients to support regulatory expectations.

Direct Patient Care

Meet daily rounding expectations when not responding to calls. Provide support for staff with patients on a 72-hour hold. Maintain expert knowledge in de-escalation strategies, resources, and policies to support the healthcare team and patients related to behavioral issues. Assess and evaluate the use of restraints and observers to validate the need for patients exhibiting violent behaviors to support regulatory expectations. Ensure adherence to applicable UAMS policies and procedures. Practice within the scope of the Arkansas Nurse Practice Act.
