Position Overview: We are currently seeking a Palliative Medicine Physician to serve in the Department of Medicine. This role will be under the guidance of the Chair, Steven Bailey, MD. Candidates must be board certified/eligible and qualify for a Louisiana medical license.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enhance the quality of life for patients and their families facing serious or life-altering illnesses.
- Address complex symptom management effectively.
- Provide psychosocial, existential, and spiritual support to alleviate human suffering.
- Facilitate communication and advanced care planning that aligns with patient values and goals.
- Ensure continuity of care across various clinical settings throughout the illness trajectory.
- Manage pain control and address psychosocial distress while meeting practical patient needs.
- Improve patient and family access to information regarding conditions and treatment options.
- Coordinate care by facilitating communication among healthcare providers as patient needs evolve.
