About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Physicist to join our Radiation Oncology Department at Halifax Health. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing medical physics services to ensure the highest standards of practice and compliance with regulatory requirements.


Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Radiation Oncologists to develop treatment plans and ensure accurate calculations for patient treatments.
  • Perform acceptance testing, commissioning, and radiation safety evaluation of new radiation sources and accelerators.
  • Review patient treatment records and perform calibrations and performance checks of treatment machines.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly physics quality assurance and calibration checks.
  • Consult with Radiation Oncologists, Radiation Therapists, and Dosimetry regarding technical problems and new clinical procedures.

Requirements
  • Master's degree and Board Certification with American Board of Radiology (ABR) or American Board of Medical Physicist (AMBP) is required.
  • 5-10 years of radiation oncology experience.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and attentiveness to detail required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
