Job Description:
The Student Nurse Extern (SNE) assesses patient health problems and needs and develops and implements nursing care plans under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The SNE will provide professional nursing care to patients within an assigned unit, clinic or region with direct supervision of a licensed nurse. This role involves performing basic administrative/clerical/operational/customer support/computational tasks, caring for patients in the home with an assigned student nurse preceptor, observing and effectively communicating changes in patient's condition to the Registered Nurse, and maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Currently within one year of anticipated graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
- Certification in Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association; must not expire during Nurse Externship
- Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- Must not require sponsorship to work in the U.S. now or in the future
