Job Summary:

This is a well-supported position that requires you to function independently to assess, diagnose, and treat or recommend courses of treatment for adult diseases, with particular emphasis on disorders of the endocrine system and metabolism. You will work collaboratively with Primary Care Physicians, Clinical Pharmacist, Care Navigators, and RNs in a collaborative care model.

Responsibilities:
  • Assess, diagnose, and treat or recommend courses of treatment for adult diseases, with particular emphasis on disorders of the endocrine system and metabolism.
  • Order, collect, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and other diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and health care needs.
  • Formulate and implement comprehensive outcomes-based patient treatment plans based on patient assessments, evidence-based medicine, standards of care, professional practice guidelines, and in partnership with physicians when appropriate.
  • Treat and examine patients and make diagnoses for illnesses in the thyroid, pituitary, adrenal, and hypothalamus glands.
  • Treat diseases and conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol imbalances, osteoporosis, and cancers of the endocrine glands.
  • Prescribe, recommend, and/or employ medical drug therapies or other forms of related therapeutic treatments and procedures.
  • Counsel patients and families regarding medical processes, management of health illness/condition, medication, nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle changes that can positively influence their health conditions.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and statutes. Maintain and follow standard quality, safety, environmental, and infection control policies and procedures.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of interventions.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in nursing or Bachelors/Masters Physician Assistant Studies.
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program.
  • Current license to practice in the state of Texas.
  • Minimum two (2) years hands-on experience as an Advanced Practice Provider.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Certified Diabetes Educator preferred.

Physical Requirements:

The team member may regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, with occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
