Dynamic Medical-Surgical Team Opportunity in Indiana

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our dynamic medical-surgical team in Indiana. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to provide exceptional care to a diverse population of patients with a wide range of medical conditions.

About Our Team

Our General Medical and Surgical units cater to patients with varying diagnoses, including chronic illnesses such as COPD, Diabetes, CHF, and end-stage renal disease. We manage GI issues, infections, neurological conditions, and mental health disorders. Our patients undergo procedures like colonoscopies, thoracentesis, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive medical-surgical nursing care to patients with diverse medical conditions
  • Conduct thorough assessments and develop individualized care plans
  • Communicate effectively with inter-professional teams to ensure seamless patient care
  • Utilize electronic health records and manage various medical equipment, including IV pumps, wound vacs, feeding pumps, and chest tubes
  • Administer medications, including heparin and insulin drips, and manage IV therapy

Equipment and Technology
  • Epic electronic health record system
  • Pyxis machines for medication management
  • Accucheck blood glucose monitors
  • Hospira IV pumps
  • SCDs for VTE prevention
  • Telemetry monitoring

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Minimum one year of medical-surgical hospital experience (two years preferred)
  • BLS certification
  • Indiana State or compact RN license

Schedule and Flexibility

We offer 12-hour shifts with a requirement of three weekend shifts in four weeks. You will float to areas in greatest need, maintaining a patient ratio of 1:5. Note that floating is limited to other medical units only.

Dress Code and Professionalism

Our dress code is Caribbean Blue scrubs. We value professionalism and expect our staff to maintain a high level of dress and demeanor at all times.

Training and Orientation

Our comprehensive orientation program includes one day of general hospital orientation, approximately five days of nursing orientation, and Epic classes. We ensure our supplemental staff are well-prepared to excel in their roles.
