Job Summary:

The Design and Release Engineer will be responsible for the design and release of restraints components and systems for new and current vehicles. This includes managing project timing, releasing drawings and engineering specifications, creating specific FMA documents, DVP&R, and quality documents. The successful candidate will also be responsible for part delivery on time for each program milestone and tracking supplier deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, validate, and release automotive systems, subsystems, and components for assigned programs.
  • Monitor the development of interior trim for vehicles according to company-specific benchmarks.
  • Design parts to comply with corporate and local requirements for parts validation, considering worldwide customer requirements, engineering specifications, and systems design specifications, as well as manufacturing and assembly requirements.
  • Translate customer, regulatory, and product requirements into engineering targets.
  • Monitor suppliers and analyze customer feedback through systems.
  • Responsible for incorporating new designs and engineering changes at the assembly plant and leading discussions with involved parties, including suppliers.
  • Support suppliers and assembly departments with current production quality and manufacturing issues.
  • Support production part approval processes (PPAP) for mass production.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience working as a design and release engineer (restraints experience desired)
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electronics, or mechatronics engineering

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Good program management skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously and prioritize appropriately.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others as part of a team.
  • Significant problem-solving skills previously demonstrated.
  • CAD/CAE capable.
