Position: ARLCS Food Service Program Coordinator
Role Summary
Under the supervision of the Director of Child Nutrition Services, this role adheres to local, state, and federal regulations and standards.
The coordinator is expected to collaborate effectively to maintain an efficient and impactful food service program that meets the nutritional requirements and satisfaction of students and staff.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Actively pursuing completion of the Arkansas Department of Education Manager's Training for Child Nutrition.
- Proven experience in quality food service operations, preferably within a school nutrition context.
- Familiarity with federal and state regulations regarding food preparation and service.
- Proficient in basic computer software and hardware systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Dedicate efforts to fostering a student-centered environment.
- Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the Child Nutrition Department, engaging in the planning, development, and implementation of the school food service program to maximize benefits for both the school and the community.
- Exemplify professionalism for all Child Nutrition staff.
- Maintain a reliable attendance record, reporting to work as scheduled.
- Promote a positive and productive atmosphere within the workplace and school.
- Collaborate as a team member within the Child Nutrition Department, demonstrating leadership and vision in staff management.
- Adhere to and maintain knowledge of all district policies.
- Oversee and assess food service personnel as directed by the Director.
- Utilize government commodities in compliance with federal guidelines.
- Uphold high standards of sanitation and safety practices.
- Prepare reports and maintain records as required, including daily production logs.
- Ensure accurate, complete, and compliant records as mandated by law, district policy, and administrative regulations regarding sales, free, reduced, and paid students.
- Manage financial transactions and maintain organized records and filing systems for accountability and auditing purposes.
- Order and receive necessary food and supplies for the school, adhering to established specifications based on menu, volume, and student needs.
- Apply managerial skills to control labor, food, and non-food costs within the program.
- Assist with kitchen operations, including food preparation tasks.
- Maintain transparent and open communication with staff and the Child Nutrition Director.
- Ensure coverage for all kitchen positions through accurate scheduling and arranging substitutes as necessary.
- Collaborate in all activities essential for the optimal functioning of the school food service program.
- Observe safety protocols and report any incidents in accordance with district policy.
- Perform duties as assigned by the Director, which may include working in extreme temperatures, bending and squatting to clean kitchen equipment, standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds without assistance, and operating commercial food service equipment.
- Attend meetings, workshops, and seminars as required to fulfill training obligations.
- Execute any additional responsibilities consistent with the goals and objectives of the position as assigned, including various tasks, skills, duties, and functions necessary to support the development of the Child Nutrition Department.
