Cleveland Clinic Observation Unit Job Description

Cleveland Clinic South Pointe Hospital's Observation Unit is a dynamic environment that prioritizes patient care and satisfaction. As a Registered Nurse in this unit, you will be part of a high-energy team that delivers quality care to a diverse patient population.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies and protocols.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans to ensure effective and timely care.
  • Communicate patient condition and updates to the healthcare team.
  • Evaluate and update patient care plans to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Coordinate patient care with other disciplines to ensure well-coordinated care.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
  • Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning needs.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families.
Requirements:
  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Minimum one year of acute care RN experience in a hospital setting.
Work Environment:

This is a 22-bed unit with a fast-paced environment. Most patients stay 24 hours or less. The unit sees a variety of diagnoses, including chest pain, abdominal pain, COPD, CHF, asthma exacerbations, falls, and generalized weakness.
