Job Summary

Barnes & Noble College is seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Department Manager to lead our Textbook department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring that customers have access to the right books, in the right quantity, at the right time. This role requires strong communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily operations of the Textbook department, including inventory management, customer service, and sales.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase textbook sales and rentals, as well as promote digital sales.
  • Work closely with campus partners, students, and faculty to increase adoptions and rentals.
  • Provide excellent customer service, responding to customer inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with the management team to achieve sales goals and improve overall store performance.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience in a retail setting, preferably in a management or buyer role.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Basic reading, writing, and accounting skills required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
