Welder Operator

TRS Craft Services is seeking a skilled End Welder Operator to join our team in Laurens, SC. As a key member of our steel manufacturing team, you will be responsible for ensuring the seamless production of steel by setting up and operating butt welders for various gauges of material.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up butt welders for each gauge of material and weld coil ends together.
• Identify butt welds, gauge changes, and coil numbers with paint.
• Maintain a continuous supply of steel in the accumulator to keep the mill running smoothly.
• Assist in mill changeovers as needed.
• Complete all required operating reports and quality reports.
• Assist maintenance personnel with equipment repairs.
• Support other operators during breakdowns, bottlenecks, and scheduled downtime.
• Report any irregularities or malfunctions to managers or maintenance staff.
• Empty all scrap buckets and maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Operate controls for leveler/End welder.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Associate's Degree or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Completion of military service is considered equivalent to a 2-year degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Tube mill manufacturing experience is preferred.
• Ability to follow written/verbal instructions, basic computer skills, and proficiency in reading measuring devices/equipment and basic math.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Visual acuity for reading and recording numerical data.

Physical Requirements:

• Physical ability to stand, walk, use hands, handle objects, reach, lift, climb, bend, stoop, push, and pull, with the capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Willingness to relocate for the position.
