Culinary Technician

COMHAR, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Food Service Technician to join our team. As a Food Service Technician, you will play a critical role in providing assistance in building cooking skills, nutritional meal plan education, cultural competence, and trauma-informed care to help individuals achieve their recovery goals.

• Meal Preparation and Planning
  • Prepare residents' meals, ensuring a balanced and nutritious diet is provided.
  • Partner with nursing staff and individuals to ensure that nutritious meals are prepared and planned, considering individual dietary guidelines.
  • Maintain proper documentation of special diets.
• Training and Education
  • Train individuals in nutrition, menu planning, food preparation, and safety standards.
  • Provide training in food shopping, inventory management, and ordering food and supplies.
• Kitchen Maintenance and Safety
  • Maintain a clean and safe kitchen, kitchen appliances, and storage areas.
  • Ensure all kitchen knives and potentially dangerous appliances are secured at all times.
• Collaboration and Communication
  • Partner with individuals to serve meals, set tables, dismantle tables, and clean up after meals.
  • Prepare tray service for residents who are unable to be served in the dining room.
• Administrative Tasks
  • Prepare weekly menus for review by the Nurse Manager.
  • Post menus within the Long Term Structured Residences (LTSR).
  • Maintain menu files and inventory records.
  Requirements
  • Education and Certifications
    • High School Diploma
    • Safe Serve Certificate preferred
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to work well with people and provide creative problem-solving skills
    • Knowledge of behavioral health systems and community resources
    • Ability to work independently and be flexible/adaptive in a fast-paced work environment
