Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the VA North Texas Health Care System as a Staff Optometrist. As a licensed optometrist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in the ophthalmology clinic. You will work closely with the chief of the ophthalmology section to develop and implement clinical and administrative decisions. This is an open continuous announcement, and applications will be referred to the hiring manager as vacancies occur.

Responsibilities

As a Staff Optometrist, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Providing comprehensive eye exams and diagnoses to patients
  • Prescribing and dispensing glasses, contact lenses, and other vision correction devices
  • Performing surgical procedures, such as cataract surgery and LASIK
  • Developing and implementing treatment plans for patients with eye diseases and disorders
  • Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care


Requirements

To be eligible for this position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a licensed optometrist in the state of Texas
  • Have a Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited institution
  • Have at least 2 years of experience as an optometrist
  • Be proficient in written and spoken English


Working Conditions

This position is located at the VA North Texas Health Care System, and you will be required to work in a fast-paced clinical environment. You may be required to work alternate shifts, be on call, work weekends and/or holidays as patient care and needs of the service require.
