Early Childhood Lead Educator

Job Summary

This position is for a Lead Float Educator to support staff absences. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working 4 10-hour days with Tuesdays off, although this may vary based on college students' schedules. The Lead Educator is responsible for developing a cohesive teaching team, coordinating curriculum, and managing daily classroom operations. They must understand children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development to create a safe and engaging environment. Effective communication with children and adults is essential to meet children's needs, guide teacher assistants, and resolve parental concerns. The Lead Educator must also follow licensing procedures for mealtimes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement educational curriculum by creating classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.
  • Lead by example, encouraging teaching team success through modeling and coaching.
  • Plan individual and group activities to engage children and promote social, cognitive, and emotional growth.
  • Maintain frequent communication with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences.
  • Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met.
  • Maintain a healthy classroom environment, including hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.
  • Supervise teacher assistants and classroom volunteers to ensure they follow planned activities, hygiene, and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records, forms, and files.
  • Maintain a personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
Requirements
  • Must possess an active Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
  • OR at least 48 semester credit hours, including 15 semester hours in early childhood education, early childhood development, child and family studies.
  • AND at least two years of experience working with children in a licensed child development facility.
  • By December 2023, must earn an associate degree in early childhood education, early childhood development, child and family studies, or a closely related field of study.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
  • High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
  • A strong understanding of child development.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Must clear a full background check and pass a health screening.
