Substitute Teacher

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Substitute Teacher to join our team at Classical Charter Schools of America. As a Substitute Teacher, you will play a vital role in ensuring the continuity of our educational programs and providing support to our students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Content Teacher in successfully preparing students with the knowledge and strategies they need to master the curriculum and achieve a passing score on standardized tests.
• Help students learn skills that will contribute to their social development.
• Perform clerical duties, such as grading papers and recording grades in the grade book.
• Monitor students during class time to ensure they are on task and focused on the lesson being given.
• Assist students as needed with class work assignments.
• Encourage and reward positive behavior.
• Make copies of various items needed for instruction.
• Share responsibility with the teacher of vacuuming the classroom and taking out the trash.
• Substitute in other classrooms of the same grade or a different grade as requested by the office or trainers.
• Monitor students during assemblies.
• Share responsibility with the teacher to ensure all children are evacuated and accounted for during a fire drill.
• Share responsibility with the teacher to ensure all children are in proper posture and accounted for during a tornado drill.
• Share responsibility with the teacher to ensure all safeguards are in place during a lock down.
• Share responsibility with the teacher to alert maintenance of items that need attention in the classroom/playground.
• Share responsibility with the teacher to ensure that all items are completed on checklists for the classroom, given before all breaks and at the end of the school year.
• Attend required training.
• Remain flexible and positive for any given assignment.

Qualifications:

• Substitute Teachers in Middle School - Bachelor's Degree or Certified Teacher preferred
• Substitute Teacher Assistants: Associates Degree preferred

• Ability to operate common office machines.
• Ability to maintain basic files and records.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitates by work assignments.
