Position Summary:
Under the guidance of the Director of Nursing for Perioperative Services, the Assistant Nurse Manager will oversee the Surgical Support and Equipment Technicians within the Trauma Operating Room (TOR), General Operating Room (GOR), and Endoscopy Labs. This role involves managing equipment, placing work orders, and supporting ongoing projects within the operating rooms.
Key Responsibilities:
The following duties outline the essential functions of this position:
- Supervise and manage the Surgical Support Technicians (SST) and Equipment Technicians, including conducting performance evaluations and providing mentorship.
- Contribute to the development of continuing education and onboarding programs for staff.
- Ensure compliance with departmental policies through effective training and evaluation.
- Participate in the recruitment process by interviewing and recommending candidates for hire.
- Conduct annual performance reviews and recommend disciplinary actions as necessary.
- Encourage professional growth and development among team members.
- Ensure adherence to established policies and procedures.
- Act as a liaison between nursing staff, quality management, and other relevant departments.
- Engage in discussions regarding purchasing needs, quality outcomes, and patient feedback to enhance care quality.
- Proactively address potential issues related to patient management and equipment.
- Collaborate with leadership on strategic planning and facilitate departmental changes to align with organizational objectives.
- Lead and implement performance improvement initiatives.
Commitment to Patient Safety:
Ensure patient safety in all job functions and actively participate in safety initiatives:
- Take corrective actions to mitigate observed risks to patient safety.
- Report any adverse events or near misses to the appropriate management.
- Identify potential risks in processes and communicate them to relevant authorities.
Qualifications:
1. Current Registered Nurse license in Maryland.
2. Minimum of 2 years of operating room experience.
3. Bachelor's degree is required.
4. CNOR certification and prior leadership experience are preferred.
5. Basic Life Support certification is required.
