Position Summary
The Junior Voice Communication Engineer is responsible for researching, designing, developing, integrating, testing, documenting, and supervising the installation of electrical communication systems. This includes both analog and digital voice communication systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize communication engineering standards, principles, theories, and techniques regularly.
- Define voice communication system requirements and establish system architectures.
- Create installation designs and documentation for voice communication systems.
- Collaborate with drafting team members to produce and maintain detailed system schematics.
- Integrate custom and commercial off-the-shelf products into existing voice communication systems.
- Conduct sustaining engineering tasks such as part replacement, software updates, server maintenance, and failure analysis.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for escalated issues.
- Develop engineering instructions for work orders that impact system design and configuration.
- Research and procure materials/components that align with voice systems specifications.
- Provide solutions to a range of moderate complexity problems.
- Work under close supervision.
Qualifications
- Solid understanding of engineering principles and technologies.
- Familiarity with IP networks, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), computer/server administration, and database management.
- Basic knowledge of T-Carrier systems, P25 Trunk Radio systems, channel banks, and DC power systems.
- U.S. citizenship with the ability to pass a background investigation.
- Ability to pass initial and random drug testing.
- Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an accredited program.
- ABET accreditation is preferred but not mandatory.
Physical Requirements
- Typically works in a controlled environment.
- May occasionally work at various sites, including outdoor locations.
- Hybrid work schedule may be available.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
