Role Summary: The Facilities Maintenance Lead is responsible for overseeing skilled trades personnel to achieve the goals of the maintenance division within a dynamic, high-volume, unionized manufacturing setting. The chosen candidate will be instrumental in promoting safety, quality, delivery, cost efficiency, and team morale. This role involves enhancing throughput and managing both professional and emergency maintenance tasks. Additionally, the lead will provide guidance and mentorship to team members, both hourly and supervisory, on World Class Manufacturing methodologies for effective problem resolution and corrective actions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work is conducted entirely onsite.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of maintenance strategies including time-based maintenance (TBM), condition-based maintenance (CBM), and dynamic maintenance (DM).
  • Impact key performance indicators (KPIs) such as mean time between failures (MTBF) and mean time to repair (MTTR), while ensuring equipment is maintained at optimal conditions and continuously improved.
  • Address issues related to throughput, production runs, and equipment downtime, collaborating with the Professional Maintenance Specialist (PMS) as necessary.
  • Directly supervise skilled trades personnel.
  • Collaborate with skilled trades staff to implement waste reduction strategies through World Class Manufacturing (WCM) practices, including Autonomous Maintenance (AM), Professional Maintenance (PM), Quality Maintenance (QM), and People Development (PD).
  • Actively engage in and lead kaizen initiatives focused on enhancing Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) and identifying waste reduction opportunities through cost analysis.

Qualifications:

  • *Candidates must be adaptable to various shifts.*
  • * High School Diploma or GED required.
  • * A minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial automation, including project management in a unionized environment, with specific expertise in paint processes.
  • * Willingness to work overtime as needed.
  • * Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • * Excellent interpersonal abilities to interact with employees across all levels, from hourly workers to senior management.
  • * Capability to cultivate effective business relationships with plant leadership and clients.
  • * Proficient in managing multiple projects concurrently.
  • * Proven experience in troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • * Goal-oriented self-starter with leadership qualities.
  • * Ability to mentor and develop skilled trades employees.
  • * Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • * Flexibility to work different shifts and weekends.
  • * Comfortable working in varying temperature environments and around heavy machinery.
  • * Adherence to safety protocols, including wearing necessary protective equipment.
  • * Physical capability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift up to 40 pounds regularly.

Preferred Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering discipline.

  • Leadership experience in maintenance teams within a unionized context.
  • Training in Green Belt, Red X, or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Familiarity with controls, robotics, drives, system-level communication, sealing systems, glass cell systems, various conveyance systems, welding processes, painting systems, and vision systems.
  • Understanding of World Class Manufacturing pillar methodologies and their implementation.
  • Proficient in Google Suite software applications.
