PRIMARY ROLE:

The Mechanical Program Manager plays a crucial role in offering strategic and program management support to the Mechanical Engineering Department. This position is essential in ensuring that all design and fabrication projects related to low and medium voltage switchboards and panel boards are executed efficiently and meet the highest quality standards. Beyond overseeing project execution, the Mechanical Program Manager will implement departmental strategic initiatives and promote a culture of continuous improvement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project and Workflow Oversight:

  • Task Management: Supervise and manage the workflow of design and fabrication tasks, ensuring timely completion while addressing any potential delays.
  • Scheduling Coordination: Organize schedules, meetings, and deadlines for the engineering team to maintain project timelines.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Keep precise records of project statuses, updates, and outcomes, generating regular reports to monitor progress and identify improvement areas.
  • Resource Management: Assist in the allocation of resources, including personnel and materials, to enhance departmental efficiency.

Strategic Initiatives and Process Enhancement:

  • Continuous Improvement Leadership: Spearhead and support initiatives aimed at enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the Mechanical Engineering Department.
  • Process Optimization: Identify and implement improvements to streamline operations and minimize waste, fostering a culture of ongoing enhancement.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with various stakeholders, including other departments and external partners, to align strategic initiatives with overall business goals.
  • Team Input: Encourage and gather feedback from team members that lead to time savings and process enhancements.

Program Management:

  • Project Planning: Develop and oversee project plans, including defining project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and formulate mitigation strategies to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track project performance using appropriate systems and techniques, measuring progress against key performance indicators.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Collaborate with program managers from other departments to ensure alignment of projects and initiatives across the organization.

Leadership and Mentorship:

  • Promoting a Culture of Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team by encouraging innovative thinking and problem-solving.
  • Team Development: Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, promoting a culture of ongoing learning and enhancement.

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE:

Reports To: Mechanical Design Director

Collaborates With: Mechanical Design Managers, Catalog Manager (overseeing CAD systems), and Program Managers from other departments.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of mechanical design processes. Experience with sheet metal fabrication is a plus but not mandatory.

Program Management Experience: Proven background in program management, including planning, execution, and monitoring.

Continuous Improvement Experience: Demonstrated success in driving continuous improvement initiatives and cultivating a culture of enhancement.

Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey information and engage with stakeholders at all levels.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience: Previous experience in an administrative or program management role within a mechanical engineering or manufacturing setting.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Program Management, or a related field.

Certifications: PMP (Project Management Professional) or similar certification.

ADDITIONAL INSIGHTS:

This role requires a proactive individual with exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently. The Mechanical Program Manager must excel in problem-solving and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
