Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled R&D Beverage Formulation Specialist to join our team in Sausalito. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food science, chemistry, or a related field, with 5+ years of experience in consumer product development and a proven track record of implementing processes in food and beverage product development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive new product development processes, including formulation trials, stability testing, and prototype development of RTD cocktails, hard seltzers, wines, and spirits.
  • Work with other departments to support new product development and be proactive in improving products.
  • Manage and lead projects, including creating technical plans, risk management, and supplier mitigation plans from concept to commercialization.
  • Collaborate with flavor and ingredient suppliers and the internal procurement team to ensure a steady source of ingredients.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and collaborate with the Executive Team on managing technical timelines for new products and research projects.
  • Assist with preparation of sensory samples, help with compound dilutions and blending for production, and advise on formulation requirements for regulatory and label considerations.
  • Coordinate testing for products as required and ensure compliance with FDA or TTB requirements.
  • Conduct product quality tests, including shelf life and product stability studies, and manage lab space and equipment.
  • Document all experimental procedures in a laboratory or digital notebook.

Requirements

  • BS or higher degree in food science, chemistry, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in consumer product development.
  • Experience implementing processes in food and beverage product development.
  • Experience managing and developing a team of food scientists.
  • Strong knowledge of TTB and/or food and beverage regulatory compliance.
  • Passionate about food and beverage, and especially alcohol beverage products.
  • Exceptional palate and sensory skills.
  • Highly organized.
  • Strong communication skills.
