Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Plant Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team at Ball Corporation. As a key member of our quality assurance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality in our products and processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe and secure work environment by identifying and correcting unsafe acts/conditions, facilitating monthly safety meetings, and performing monthly safety inspections.
  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of our food safety system, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and analyze line data to verify process control system compliance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Inspect finished products to ensure quality standards are met, analyzing trends and deviations to recommend process improvements.
  • Provide specialized data and analysis to support plant material and process changes, facilitating discussions to drive logical and sound conclusions.
  • Act as an advisory resource to production and quality assurance management, informing them of significant process deviations and implementing actions to prevent substandard products.
  • Perform specialized lab testing to analyze the fitness of incoming materials and determine the fitness of finished products to standards.
  • Calibrate test equipment and ensure it is in good working order, maintaining a gauge and inspection equipment control system.
  • Initiate activity reports on special investigations, capability studies, and process deviations, maintaining records as necessary.
  • May perform safety and GMP audits of assigned work areas, as well as personal accuracy reviews with new and existing employees.
  • May maintain a toolroom inventory system, inspecting new or reworked tooling to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • May provide support for production by tagging pallets at the roller bed, shipping and scheduling brewing line changes, and handling outside warehouse discrepancies.
  • May tag pallets with production tickets, facilitating the installation and maintenance of established quality assurance procedures.
  • Interact with vendors and suppliers, maintaining inspection reports and quality complaints to determine defect trends in materials and products.
  • Maintain reports as necessary, evaluating the quality of designated products in conformance with established quality assurance procedures.
  • Facilitate quality assurance training and development programs, assisting in the inspection or testing of various materials and products to determine compliance with specifications.
  • Act as a customer service liaison, analyzing problems on customer sites on a regular basis.
  • Initiate, review, master, and follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the area of responsibility.
  • Work assigned schedule or 12-hour shifts, rotating days and nights, Monday through Sunday, with the ability to work overtime on a regular basis and/or be on call as directed by management.
  • Maintain an awareness of and comply with hazardous waste management and other environmental management requirements in the workplace.
  • Communicate with the emergency coordinator (EC) or Environmental Focal Point/Environmental Manager (EFP/EM) regarding environmental management activities.
  • Understand and respond effectively to EC directions during emergencies, implementing contingency plans as necessary.
  • Understand, complete, and maintain environmental documentation for which the individual is trained, or as directed by the EC, EFP, or EM.
  • Comply with established job safety practices, policies, and procedures as specified in plant and corporate directives for the safe performance of the work assignment.
  • Recognize waste streams and minimize waste generation through prudent use of materials, proper disposal, and segregation.
  • Comply with environmental regulations when using, dispensing, or handling hazardous and non-hazardous materials and wastes.
Requirements
  • Broad training in a related field, usually acquired through high school level education or work-related experience.
  • Job-related experience for 1 year(s) minimum.
  • Ability to apply independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard quality assurance techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Must be able to handle sensitive related and proprietary information in a confidential manner.
  • Performs such individual assignments as management may direct.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to operate a computer and stay current with ever-changing software.
  • Requires sound judgment in determining whether product should be held for substandard reasons.
  • Ability to speak before others.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, concentrate, and pay attention to details.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data, and make recommendations.
  • Must maintain professional competence, ethical integrity, knowledge, and skills.
  • Working knowledge of the following areas: nomenclature of all assigned equipment and products; can, end, or both manufacturing processes, test equipment, statistical process control.
  • Must follow company policies, procedures, practices, and standards of conduct as outlined in the Ball Corporation manuals.
  • Works in both office and manufacturing environments.
  • This position is exposed to occupational hazards, including but not limited to, high noise levels, physical obstacles, exposure to chemicals, etc.
  • Must wear appropriate safety glasses, hearing protection, clothing, and footwear in appropriate areas and follow safety practices.
  • Must be able to match colors.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $57,200 - $76,000, depending on education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan. Ball Corporation also offers a comprehensive benefits structure, including health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.
