Peer Specialist

About the Role:

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Peer Specialist to join our team at the Veterans Health Administration. As a Peer Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting our nation's heroes by providing guidance and mentorship to fellow veterans struggling with mental health issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist physicians and other healthcare professionals in rehabilitation treatment programs for veterans with mental health conditions.
  • Provide therapeutic and supportive tasks, including helping veterans articulate their goals for recovery and personal wellness, learning new skills, monitoring progress, assisting in treatment, modeling effective coping techniques, and advocating for themselves to obtain necessary services.
  • Work closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care for veterans.
Requirements:
  • A valid peer specialist certification and a minimum of 1 year of recovery from a mental health condition.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals who have varying levels of wellness, recovery, and symptoms.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Excellent emotional stability and ability to handle stressful situations.
Salary and Benefits:
