Sterile Processing Supervisor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sterile Processing Supervisor to join our team at WellSpan Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the Central Sterile Processing Department, ensuring the recommended standards for set assembly, decontamination, inspection, containerizing, and sterilization of surgical instruments are met.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate the activities of the Central Sterile Processing Department, ensuring timely delivery of clean, sterile, or high-level disinfection instrumentation and medical equipment.
- Maintain, monitor, and control service-specific instrumentation and supplies for assigned Operating Room service lines, delegating responsibilities to assigned Sterile Processing Technician I and Technician II staff.
- Review the daily surgical schedule and obtain instruments, supplies, and equipment for scheduled and emergent procedures, reconciling the surgical schedule and instrument/equipment inventory to prioritize instrumentation utilization for case carts.
- Collaborate with the Central Sterile Processing Manager in evaluating changes in policies and procedures and implementing appropriate systems to accommodate these changes.
- Ensure that all equipment is functioning properly, notifying the manufacturer or medical/instrument repair immediately when malfunctions occur and following up on recurring issues.
- Monitor inventory levels to maintain adequate supplies, reduce waste, and control costs.
- Ensure that all externs/students adhere to both departmental and administrative policies and procedures.
- Monitor, maintain, and record all department quality assurance systems activities in accordance with departmental and facility policy, The Joint Commission, DNV, CDC, FDA, ANSI/AAMI, OSHA, and DOH regulations.
- Collaborate with all departments to ensure that appropriate professional standards are consistently applied within both surgery and outpatient care areas.
- Coordinate service-specific instrumentation procurement with Operating Room Service Line RNs, Sterile Processing Technician I and Technician II staff, and the Central Sterile Processing Manager as needed.
- Maintain the Biological Monitoring System/Records for Instrument Processing and Immediate Use Steam Sterilization Sterilizers used in Perioperative Suite.
- Perform shift huddles to communicate department status with oncoming shift staff members.
- Perform in a technician capacity as needed.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 3 years of experience in Central Sterile Processing, including supervisory experience.
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) upon hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
