POSITION SUMMARY:
The Orthopedic Technician and Medical Assistant role encompasses a diverse range of patient care responsibilities and supportive services aimed at enhancing the experience for both patients and healthcare professionals.
ORTHOPEDIC TECHNICIAN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Educate patients and address inquiries as needed.
- Apply orthopedic devices such as splints and casts according to physician directives.
- Manage sharps and assist with suture/staple removal.
- Respond to patient calls regarding orthopedic equipment and treatments.
- Order Durable Medical Equipment (DME) and handle related billing documentation.
- Maintain inventory of clinical supplies in examination and treatment areas.
- Adhere to all OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
- Provide support to Medical Assistants when required.
- Perform general office and clinical tasks as necessary.
MEDICAL ASSISTANT RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
- Ensure all relevant documentation, including lab and radiology reports, is available for physician review prior to patient visits.
- Collect and record patient medical histories and vital signs.
- Assist in preparing medication prescriptions and other orders as directed by the physician.
- Educate patients about office procedures, medication management, and treatment plans using appropriate medical terminology.
- Ensure completion and filing of consent forms.
- Respond to inquiries from patients, physicians, and pharmacies.
- Coordinate patient care with healthcare team members.
- Facilitate physician referral requests.
- Assist in obtaining necessary insurance authorizations.
- Schedule surgical appointments.
- Support physicians with coding for office visits.
- Manage surgery-related paperwork and inquiries.
- Travel between various office locations as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Hourly Rate: $25

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with electronic medical records is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Allscripts EMR is a plus.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- Typical clinical office and examination room setting.
- Frequent standing, typing, and managing patient information.
- Ability to file and track documents in both physical and electronic formats.
- Physical capability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds as necessary.
- Standard business hours are Monday through Friday, with occasional early or late hours required.
