Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Supervision: Manage a team of maintenance personnel to ensure safe and efficient operation of the facility.
- Budgeting and Financial Management: Prepare and manage capital and operating budgets for the maintenance department.
- Technical Program Development: Coordinate the development and implementation of technical programs to enhance equipment longevity and optimize maintenance operations.
- Maintenance Procedure Development: Develop and review maintenance procedures to ensure maximum safety of personnel and equipment, economy of operations, and effective utilization of manpower.
- Cost Effectiveness: Establish, monitor, maintain, evaluate, and re-evaluate the cost effectiveness of all maintenance programs.
- Problem Resolution: Analyze and resolve maintenance problems to ensure continuity and economy of operations.
- Contractor Management: Manage major overhauls and outages, direct and monitor the performance of contractors.
- Training and Development: Coordinate the development and implementation of on-the-job training programs to obtain maximum proficiency of plant maintenance personnel.
- Inventory Management: Ensure that adequate parts, materials, supplies, tools, and test equipment are on hand and in good condition to perform scheduled work.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; 4-year college degree preferred.
- Experience: Twelve (12) years progressively responsible power plant maintenance experience, including gas fired, coal, hydro, or nuclear units, with four (4) years of supervisory, management, or leadership responsibilities.
- Equivalent Experience: Eight (8) years of experience, including four (4) years of supervisory, management, or leadership responsibilities, and a 4-year college degree, or ten (10) years of experience, including four (4) years of supervisory, management, or leadership responsibilities, and two (2) years of college.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong ability to work in a team environment; effective manager of personnel; ability to extract, comprehend, and develop instructions from technical manuals, journals, and drawings; ability to communicate orally and in writing using the English language; independent decision-making capabilities; ability to manage financial budgets and assets; ability to direct others in the performance of testing, checkout, and troubleshooting of equipment; ability to provide technical direction and leadership; ability to perform contractor management; ability to use personal computers; ability to plan, lay out, assign, manage, and inspect the work of others.
- Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations: Valid driver's license that meets the insurance eligibility requirements under Oglethorpe Power's qualification program.
- Travel and Unusual Hours: 15% travel required; on-call duty to address emergency conditions at the plants or operational and maintenance problems.
