Job Description & Requirements

As a Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Nurse with AMN Healthcare, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Our expanding 23-bay unit requires skilled nurses to assess, diagnose, intervene, evaluate, coordinate, and facilitate the concentrated care necessary in the immediate post-anesthetic period for a multi-varied surgical patient population.

Responsibilities:
  • Assess and monitor patients in the post-anesthetic period, identifying potential complications and taking prompt action to address them.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans, prioritizing patient needs and collaborating with the surgical, anesthesia, and Pain Service teams.
  • Provide continuous monitoring and observation, including hemodynamic monitoring and titration of medications as needed.
  • Manage airway and pain, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to identify the most appropriate plan of care for each patient.
Requirements:
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid Compact license.
  • 2+ years of experience in a PACU or critical care setting.
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
About the Facility

Our hospital is a 566-bed academic medical center serving Madison and surrounding areas. We are a Level I adult and pediatric trauma center, one of two in the state, and maintain six intensive care units, including trauma, pediatrics, and cardiology.
