Job Description

We are seeking a highly effective and highly qualified Elementary Classroom Teacher to join our team at Crossroads Charter Schools. The ideal candidate will have experience in urban education and be committed to our four core values: High Expectations, Real World Learning, Creative Culture, and Equity.

The Elementary Classroom Teacher will provide support in the instructional process by serving as a facilitator of learning, developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines. The teacher will collaborate with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing classroom and school issues, and respond to a wide range of inquiries from parents or guardians regarding academic and social-emotional issues.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Education, a valid Missouri teaching certificate, and a desire to continue professional development. They will also have excellent organization skills and an ability to coordinate multiple tasks and activities, as well as outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

The Elementary Classroom Teacher will be responsible for establishing weekly objectives that align with the Common Core and Missouri Learning Standards, facilitating 'hands-on' activities and projects that allow students to learn by doing and exploring, and maintaining a clean and organized classroom. They will also use discipline models of BIST and Love & Logic to maintain a positive, encouraging learning environment.

The teacher will identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs, and assist in assessing changing curricular needs and offering plans for improvement. They will also maintain effective and efficient record keeping procedures, provide a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process, and communicate effectively with students, parents, and other professionals.

The Elementary Classroom Teacher will collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment, model professional and ethical standards, and assume responsibility for meeting course and school-wide student performance goals. They will also participate in meetings, training, and professional development, and meet professional obligations through efficient work habits.
