Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Civil Assistant Project Manager to join our team at KCI Construction. The successful candidate will assist the Project Manager in all facets of assigned projects, including safety, planning, project schedule, project documentation, managing risk, profitability, and overall day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Project Manager in analyzing profit projections monthly and determining recommended actions on overruns.
  • Help prepare cost books, monitor costs, and correct posting errors.
  • Work alongside the Project Manager to execute subcontracts and purchase orders.
  • Collaborate on the preparation and updates of project schedules.
  • Determine the most cost-effective use of construction methods and personnel, materials, and equipment.
  • Assist the Project Manager in maintaining effective and efficient coordination of field and office activities on assigned projects.
  • Partner with the Project Manager to purchase major materials and award subcontracts at the most competitive price.
  • Code and approve subcontractor and material invoices in a timely fashion.
  • Help assemble, submit, and track monthly invoices to the Owner.
  • Monitor the maintenance of as-built drawings with the Superintendent and ensure they are transferred to permanent records.
  • Assist in the submittal process to ensure accuracy and timeliness to support project schedules.
  • Work to resolve design/detail problems with owners, engineers, architects, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Prepare project progress schedules at various stages and update as necessary.
  • Coordinate material deliveries and subcontract work in accordance with progress schedules and adjust as necessary due to changes.
  • Act as the company representative/liaison with the Owner, Architect, and Engineer.
Qualifications/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 2+ years of experience in civil construction is required.
  • Ability to meet deadlines with attention to detail is essential.
  • Effective interpersonal skills are necessary.
  • Must be a self-starter, team player, and communicate in a professional manner.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction costs and engineering principles is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings is necessary.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, scheduling software, and HCSS is preferred.
Physical Demands
  • Work is normally performed in a typical office environment.
  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Noise level in the office environment is usually quiet.
  • While performing the duties of this role, the employee will be required to sit, talk, and hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop or kneel.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust and focus.
