Our Medicar drivers play a crucial role in ensuring that our patients feel valued and respected throughout their journey. They are responsible for managing a significant volume of calls, safely loading, transporting, and unloading wheelchair-bound patients while strictly following care protocols and maintaining accurate documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely transport patients to and from healthcare facilities and residences in a prompt manner.
- Utilize navigation tools to efficiently locate hospitals, medical centers, and patient residences.
- Maintain a detailed run sheet for each patient, documenting every trip comprehensively.
- Ensure that the wheelchair van is well-maintained and kept in a clean condition.
- Report any mechanical issues to the Dispatch and Shift Supervisor immediately.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Comply with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Engage with patients, their families, and facility staff with respect, always prioritizing the patient's well-being.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Willingness to undergo a criminal background check.
- Availability for a comprehensive orientation program.
- Capability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to maneuver a wheelchair carrying up to 250 pounds.
