Meat Department Team Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Meat Associate Team Leader to join our team at Whole Foods Market - South Street. As a key member of our meat department, you will be responsible for assisting the team leader in all aspects of daily operations, including profitability, expense control, buying, merchandising, labor, regulatory compliance, and special projects.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Maintain Store Layout and Merchandising: Create visually appealing and effective store layouts and product displays to drive sales and customer engagement.
- Work with Team Leader to Achieve Sales and Labor Targets: Collaborate with the team leader to set and achieve sales, purchasing, and labor targets, ensuring the department meets or exceeds expectations.
- Assist with Sales and Expense Analysis: Provide support in analyzing sales reports, labor data, and expense projections to inform business decisions and drive growth.
- Ordering and Inventory Management: Assist the team leader in ordering and inventory management, ensuring accurate stock levels and minimizing waste.
- Team Development and Leadership: Foster a positive and inclusive team environment, providing coaching, mentoring, and development opportunities to team members.
- Customer Service and Engagement: Deliver exceptional customer service, responding promptly to customer needs and questions, and ensuring a positive shopping experience.
- Point Person and Departmental Leadership: Function as the point person and departmental leader in the absence of the team leader, ensuring seamless operations and customer satisfaction.
- Standards of Retail Execution: Set and maintain the highest standards of retail execution, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming store environment.
- Team Morale and Engagement: Foster a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale, promoting a culture of excellence and growth.
- High Energy and Enthusiasm: Demonstrate a high level of energy, enthusiasm, and passion for our products, core values, and company philosophy.
- Meat Product Knowledge: Possess extensive knowledge of meat products, including cuts, preparation methods, and cooking techniques.
- Leadership and Coaching Skills: Demonstrate strong leadership and coaching skills, with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
- Excellent Interpersonal Skills: Possess excellent interpersonal, motivational, team building, and customer relationship skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups.
- Regulatory and Safety Knowledge: Have advanced knowledge of regulatory and safety policies and procedures, with the ability to ensure compliance and maintain a safe working environment.
- Mathematical and Analytical Skills: Possess proficient mathematical skills for assessing financial performance, monitoring profitability, and managing inventory.
- Decision-Making and Prioritization: Demonstrate strong decision-making and prioritization skills, with the ability to delegate tasks and manage multiple projects.
We require 18+ months of retail team member experience and 6+ months of supervisory experience. A growth mindset, enthusiasm for our products, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service are essential for success in this role.
Physical Requirements and Working ConditionsThis role requires the ability to lift 50 pounds, stand/walk for 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday, and work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals, temperatures up to 90°F, and a wet and cold environment. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is also required.
