Key ResponsibilitiesThe Home Health Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant (PTA, LPTA) is responsible for:
- Implementing treatment plans and providing exercise guidance to improve the patient's overall well-being while adhering to the established care plan.
- Complying with all state-specific regulations governing physical therapy in home care, executing treatments as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Performing only those procedures for which you are qualified and trained, and recommending any necessary adjustments to the care plan to the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Instructing and assisting patients in various exercises, muscle re-education, gait training, activities of daily living (ADL), transfer techniques, safety measures, and prosthetic training.
- Monitoring, documenting, and reporting the patient's response to treatment and any changes in their condition to the supervising Physical Therapist, nurse supervisor, and/or physician.
- Coordinating care with other healthcare team members as appropriate.
- Educating patients, families, caregivers, and other healthcare team members about therapy practices within the scope of the physical therapy assistant's role.
License Requirements:
- Current licensure, registration, or certification to assist in the practice of physical therapy in the state.
- Current CPR certification.
- Possession of a valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to reliable transportation.
Additional State Requirements:
- AR: No additional state-specific requirements.
