HVAC Technician

At Southland Industries, we are seeking a skilled HVAC Technician to join our team. As an HVAC Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing commercial and industrial air-conditioning equipment and multi-zone heating and cooling systems.

• Install, remove, maintain, and repair HVAC systems and related equipment.
• Study customer's scope of service and follow preventative maintenance schedules.
• Troubleshoot electrical problems and make repairs as required.
• Document and track preventive maintenance accordingly and in compliance with EPA regulations.
• Maintain efficient environmental conditions and adjust system controls to recommended settings.
• Conserve, recover, and recycle CFC and HCFC refrigerants used in A/C and refrigeration systems in compliance with EPA regulations.
• Test systems for gas leaks, carbon monoxide issues, and fluid leaks.
• Install and repair fuel and water supply lines.
• Evaluate customer needs and make recommendations for correction and/or improvement.
• Respond directly to customer questions and provide detailed summaries of related costs for billing purposes.
• Complete all required paperwork in a timely and professional manner.
• Assist Service Sales with customer scope development, technical analysis, and support for retrofits, upgrades, and/or enhancements to existing equipment.
• Mentor/train assisting apprentices.
• Perform all work within the confines of Brandt's safety rules and regulations.

• Ability to read blueprints, layout plans, and wiring diagrams.
• Proficient at inspecting, troubleshooting, and making repairs on air-cooled chillers, RTU, package units, water-source heat pumps, and split systems.
• Ability to effectively manage time and complete delegated work within specified timeframe.
• Ability to read and interpret EPA regulations.
• Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people.
• Ability to work within precise standards of accuracy.
• Ability and willingness to follow oral and written directions.
• Ability to successfully pass pre-employment drug-screen and physical tests.
• Must be available to be on stand-by or work during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
