HVAC Technician

At Southland Industries, we are seeking a skilled HVAC Technician to join our team. As an HVAC Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing commercial and industrial air-conditioning equipment and multi-zone heating and cooling systems.
Key Responsibilities:- Install, remove, maintain, and repair HVAC systems and related equipment.
- Study customer's scope of service and follow preventative maintenance schedules.
- Troubleshoot electrical problems and make repairs as required.
- Document and track preventive maintenance accordingly and in compliance with EPA regulations.
- Maintain efficient environmental conditions and adjust system controls to recommended settings.
- Conserve, recover, and recycle CFC and HCFC refrigerants used in A/C and refrigeration systems in compliance with EPA regulations.
- Test systems for gas leaks, carbon monoxide issues, and fluid leaks.
- Install and repair fuel and water supply lines.
- Evaluate customer needs and make recommendations for correction and/or improvement.
- Respond directly to customer questions and provide detailed summaries of related costs for billing purposes.
- Complete all required paperwork in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist Service Sales with customer scope development, technical analysis, and support for retrofits, upgrades, and/or enhancements to existing equipment.
- Mentor/train assisting apprentices.
- Perform all work within the confines of Brandt's safety rules and regulations.
- Ability to read blueprints, layout plans, and wiring diagrams.
- Proficient at inspecting, troubleshooting, and making repairs on air-cooled chillers, RTU, package units, water-source heat pumps, and split systems.
- Ability to effectively manage time and complete delegated work within specified timeframe.
- Ability to read and interpret EPA regulations.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people.
- Ability to work within precise standards of accuracy.
- Ability and willingness to follow oral and written directions.
- Ability to successfully pass pre-employment drug-screen and physical tests.
- Must be available to be on stand-by or work during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
