About the Role:

  • Develop and implement an effective Certification strategy for Exhaust Emissions in the US market, driving compliance and reducing regulatory risks.
  • Provide critical guidance and information on emission regulations and amendments to various business teams, including Engineering, Quality, and Commercial.
  • Collaborate with vehicle program teams to provide emissions regulatory expertise and address complex emissions issues.
  • Review and approve definition of vehicle emissions test groups for USMCA Certification, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the Emissions Certification Test Program, ensuring efficient execution and delivery of results.
  • Prepare and submit data addressing emissions and fuel economy requirements to U.S. EPA, CARB, and NHTSA, maintaining strong relationships with these key stakeholders.
  • Serve as liaison between company, external agencies, and government bodies on emissions certification topics, providing timely responses and solutions.
  • Support the development and maintenance of internal policies and processes related to emissions regulations, ensuring consistency and effectiveness.
  • Report directly to the Environmental Lead Engineer, working collaboratively to drive environmental sustainability.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Vehicle Emissions Certification (U.S. EPA / CARB / NHTSA regulations) with OEMs.
  • Demonstrated expertise in automotive design and engineering processes, from concept to industrialization.
  • Extensive knowledge of emissions/fuel economy regulations and testing/procedures.
  • Proven experience working with government bodies and regulatory agencies.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle emissions control systems, engine calibrations, and powertrains.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and teambuilding skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time.
  • Strong problem-solving and influencing skills.
  • Solid ability to transition from analytical to strategic thinking, considering the bigger picture.
  • Effective communicator and relationship builder.
