Job Overview

Palmetto State Armory L is seeking a highly skilled Material Handler to join our team. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient movement of materials within our facility.

Estimated Salary: $45,000 - $60,000 per year

Job Description

The Material Handler will be responsible for transporting raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods to their designated locations. This involves adhering to established procedures and documenting material movements accurately.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all safety principles and quality system standards
  • Examine components to verify accuracy of records
  • Sort and route materials to the correct location
  • Move, convey, or hoist materials to storage or work areas
  • Package finished components
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Assist in on-the-job training of other employees
  • Participate in safety, quality, cost, and delivery improvements

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Ability to read and understand safety rules, standard operating procedures, and work instructions
  • Ability to operate a forklift, pallet jack, hand truck, and other material moving devices
  • Ability to use common hands and power tools
  • Ability to complete routine forms, such as Non-Conforming Material Reports
  • Ability to communicate effectively with work groups
  • Ability to apply problem-solving techniques to troubleshoot and implement corrective action
  • Forklift truck training certification
  • Three to six months warehouse experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Working Conditions

This position requires working in an operational manufacturing warehouse environment. Specific job assignments may require day, evening, weekend, or holiday hours. Overtime may be required to meet production needs.

Physical Requirements

Team members are constantly standing, walking, carrying, pulling/pushing, bending, seeing, kneeling, stooping, reaching, hearing, using hand and power tools, as well as handling paperwork. Team members will be lifting objects weighing 50 lbs. or less regularly.
