Job Summary

Kings Bay YM - YWHA is seeking a highly qualified and experienced professional to lead our early childhood program as a Head Teacher. The successful candidate will be responsible for the education and care of children, developing curriculum and activities, and contributing to the effective operation of the program.

Main Responsibilities
  • Program Development: Interpret and articulate the school's philosophy and Department of Health guidelines, goals, and procedures.
  • Emergency Response: Respond appropriately to emergencies with awareness of emergency procedures.
  • Classroom Environment: Prepare the classroom arrangement and environment for children prior to the start of school and on a daily basis.
  • Child Development: Relate to children in a warm, respectful manner and set appropriate and reasonable limits and expectations.
  • Assessment and Reporting: Assess children's needs and developmental progress on an ongoing basis and prepare written reports prior to each Parent/Teacher conference.
  • Communication: Communicate with parents in an ongoing manner using daily updates, curriculum updates, and photographs.
  • Team Collaboration: Communicate daily and meet weekly with the assistant teacher to discuss daily plans and activities.
  • Supervision: Supervise and assess student teachers and aides assigned to the classroom.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field.
  • Experience: At least one year of childcare experience.
  • Skills: Knowledge and skills relating to and planning for preschool children, ability to interact in a supportive and nurturing manner with children and parents, ability to organize and plan, excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
Work Schedule

Full-time position: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM with 30 min break

Part-time position: 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Compensation

$24 - $27 per hour
