Pain Management Nurse Job Description

A pain management nurse plays a vital role in our office, providing exceptional care to patients. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, written and oral, and be proficient in computer skills. They must be compassionate and enjoy helping others, with empathy and patience being highly valued qualities. The nurse will be responsible for reviewing patient medical information, taking vital signs, educating patients on procedures, and assisting physicians during procedures. They will also participate in providing conscious sedation, answer patient medical questions, and resolve patient complaints. Additionally, they will assist in ordering drugs and medical supplies, telephone patients after procedures, and provide health education to patients and their families. The nurse must have the ability to give and follow directions effectively, with emotional stability and excellent judgment being essential. Requirements include obtaining and remaining licensed in the state of practice, with an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in nursing required. The physical demands of the job include walking and standing approximately 60% of the workday, with the ability to sit at a desk for approximately 40% of the workday. The nurse must be able to exert up to 15 lbs. of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
